SMA's Academic Year to Begin September 12
SMA's new academic year will begin on Monday, September 12 with violin teachers Mary Farrington and Doug Craven. Ken Miller will again direct the violin ensemble and teach a beginning guitar class. The last Monday of fall term, November 28, will be a special one: violin students will participate in London's "Old Fashion Christmas," a tradition of several years. Playing in Madison County's beautiful courthouse is always a fun experience for the students.
Two recitals are planned for this year: one in February and one on the last day of spring term, May 21.
Students Attend Choral Camp
Several of our students attended Rosedale Bible College's Choral Camp in July, where they had the opportunity to enhance their violin skills by playing in a string ensemble which performed at the camp's closing recitation. For more information about Choral Camp, go to rosedale.edu.
Music Link
Here's a fun way to increase your music knowledge and skills: Go to 8notes.com and click
on the "tests and games" link at the bottom of the home page. You can do drills on note names and train your ear on intervals and scales.
Many free resources are available online to help enhance your skills. Search for "music memory games" to see what's there.
